Five top tips for hen party planning!

If you’ve been put in charge of an upcoming hen party then chances are the stress is hitting from all sides- whether it’s your own hen do or someone else’s. However, now is not the time to panic! There are certain steps you can take to make the whole process hugely more pleasant and to help stay on top of all of the planning. Essentially ladies, it’s time to take hold of the hen party reigns and get organising- read the following handy hints and good luck!

Tip one: Choose a date and destination.

This is the ideal way to get started, and as both date and destination go hand-in-hand it’s best to choose them at the same time. If you’re looking at going abroad, for example, then you may want to do this during the summer months, but if you just fancy a cosy night in with your best friends then this can be any month of the year.

As well as this, the earlier you pick a destination, the more likely it will be that there are accommodation and activity spaces free. Once you’ve penned a date and location you can plan the rest of the weekend accordingly- and let the guests know whether they’ll need to make any travel arrangements of their own, depending on whether you’re looking to have an abroad or UK hen party.

Tip two: Decide who to invite.

Now may be the time to talk to the bride-to-be and get your hands on a copy of the wedding guest list. Once you’ve seen who’s invited to the nuptials you might have a better idea of who the bride will want at her hen celebrations- however bear in mind that you can’t invite everyone and you may have to be firm but fair. If she’s invited 100 women to the wedding then it’s unrealistic to expect she’ll want this many at her special pre-nuptials, so work alongside the hen to whittle down the list.

Chances are as well that not everyone will be able to make it so there may be spaces to invite more people later on in the process.

Tip three: Manage the financials.

This is one of the most important parts of hen party planning- it can present an awkward situation to have to ask your closest friends for money but the sooner you get it over with the sooner you can get back to being excited!

It’s important to let people know the costs in advance so that they can prepare and budget accordingly- it may be a good idea to create a spreadsheet of costs which can then be sent around.

Tip four: Book through a quality company.

It’s important to book all aspects of your weekend through a quality, experienced company. So many companies in the event and tour industry aren’t financially protected- when booking your weekend ensure that your events company are fully ABTA bonded for your personal financial protection.

It also usually works out cheaper to book through a hen party company rather than going straight to the hotels/ activity suppliers as the event firms have relationships and get discounts which they can pass on. Do your research to ensure you get the best value for money.

Tip five: Have a great night!

With all the wedding planning and hen party planning pressure the hen party is your chance to relax! Put the bride-to-be’s favourite hen party activities (and possibly a few surprises) into the weekend so that you’re all guaranteed a fantastic time. This is the perfect time to kick back, enjoy yourselves and make some wonderful memories!
